LO 3.A.1: Explain the core American beliefs, values, and norms that define the relationship between citizens and government and citizens with each other.
The core American beliefs, their values and norms are to obey the rules, get a good education, respect your peers and deal with what has to come, now in the sense that the people's beliefs are related to the government is because the government at first when the American government was created, were the only influential things to the people and they made the rules and everything that these people's core values and beliefs are.
LO 3.A.2: Evaluate the influence of various factors in political attitudes and socialization.
The major factors of citizens and their government and what they believe in (in regards to government) are mainly influenced by ones education and schooling, family, friends and the media being viewed. In each of these influential branches to the public person, in school people are taught about government and there they develop their own stances and beliefs in government where it could be Democratic, Republican, Socialist, Green Party, anything really, then the influences from family are basically the most important influential device in a persons life because a lot of children look up to their parents so lets say if mommy is a democrat then the child is probably going to believe in the democratic ideals because that's how they were raised, friends its the same thing as family in influencing someone, but with friends it occasionally can just be more arguing about politics, than anything else, lastly is the media and the media influences people in a number of ways through TV, music, displayed art, and radio where politicians can contribute highly to any one of those.
LO 4.A.1: Evaluate the impact that public opinion and scientific polling have on elections and policy debates.
Public opinion and scientific polling impact elections and policy debates very heavily because lets say that in a debate that the candidate knows the people won't like what he or she has to say about the topic based off of scientific results of polling so the candidate will most likely change their stance or the way they approach the topic and the words they say to sway public opinion. Now also before the fact that the candidate sees the scientific results they also hear about the public opinion which can either scare the candidate or greatly boost their campaign attitude because then after they hear about the publics opinion they typically will then go to the scientific polls to see the actual stats.
LO 3.A.3: Analyze the relationship between 21st century globalization and American political, social and cultural values.
American globalization has led to more countries becoming democratic due to other countries typically being less prosperous than America. Globalization has also lead to better global economy as well as security. Though there seems to be lots of positives to this globalization there are also an equal number of negatives such as how globalization has contributed to the problems with third world countries such as a Iran and it has also caused global warming because of all the pollution.
LO 3.B.1: Analyze how political culture influences the formation, goals, and implementation of public policy.
Political culture influences public policy because ultimately, its the public that makes the decisions; majority rules.
LO 3.C.1: Compare how political ideologies vary on the role of government in regulating the marketplace.
There are several different views on if the government should regulate the economy or not. Democrats want more regulations on big businesses and they also want more government intervention as a whole. Republicans want very little government intervention which is why most republicans are wealthy individuals or big business owners.
LO 3.C.2: Compare how political ideologies vary with regard to the role of government in addressing social issues.
Democratic and Republican ideologies differ very greatly on the topoic of socials issues like for example the Republicans do not support gay marriage when Democrats do, Republicans think that big business can support better health care than universal health care when on the other hand Democrats support universal health care, and lastly Republicans tend to be more pro-life and not pro-choice like Democrats are.
LO 4.D.1: Summarize the voting rights protections in the Constitution and in legislation.
The 14th amendment gives people rights and the equal protection from law. The 15th amendment prohibits state and federal governments from denying a person the right to vote based on their skin color, gender, religion and past beliefs. Then also there is the voters right act of 1965 which prevents any discrimination and enforces both the 14th and 15th amendments.
LO 4.D.2: Analyze the roles that individual choice and state laws play in voter turnout in elections.
Ones individual choice to vote or not in any election affects the voter turnout highly in elections because "every vote matters." State laws also affect voter turnout because most states have legislation that makes it easier to vote like using a person's ID to make it easier to vote.
LO 4.D.3: Analyze U.S. voter turnout and compare it with that in other democracies.
In The U.S. we have the lowest voter turnout than any other democratic country because in some other countries there are specific holidays for people to vote on where in our case in the U.S. we do not have any holidays made for voters to go out and vote. There are also other factors in this such as weather and its bas conditions forcing people to not be able to leave the house to vote.
LO 4.D.4: Explain the factors that influence voter choices
The factors that influence voter choices are their education, religion, region that they are staying in, what social networks they are on, what shows or hobbies they have there and their age too because statistically voters between the ages of 18-24 do not tend to vote as much as votes above the age of 24.
LO 4.D.5: Compare different models of voting behavior.
There are four different of voting behaviors which are based on the type of election is being held, voters tend to vote based on their political beliefs, or what they are influenced by at the time considering economic stability, health, etc. In local elections people tend to pick candidates that will contribute more to their area of focus, but also there are referendums which follow a different type of logic because people are specifically told to vote for a clearly defined policy.
